About the Creator
Hello my Name Is Carlos
I was born in Santiago, Dominican Republic, and came to the United States in 2006. I am a cultural ethnographer and educator with a Master of Science in Education from the University of Pennsylvania. Throughout my life, I have traveled the world, immersing myself in diverse cultures, which has profoundly shaped my open perspective.
I have extensive professional experience linked to the African continent. In 2023, I was a UNESCO Fellow in Dakar, Senegal, and previously, in 2017, I served in the Peace Corps in Tete, Mozambique, where I served as a Secondary School Teacher for several years.
As an artist with skills in digital art, I founded Atabey Media in 2020. This initiative aims to promote the Afro-indigenous aspects of my identity, often overlooked in the Dominican Republic. I aspire to elevate Atabey Media as a reference for Afro-TaÃno ancestral knowledge. I understand the importance of keeping our collective identity alive and I fight for a future where, as Dominicans, we feel proud to have African and TaÃno blood.
During my free time, I like to meet people, travel, spend time in nature, work at @atabeymedia and enjoy a healthy corito
